Incase you missed it, Google have altered how they search (and rank) web sites as of April 21 on mobiles.
Why the change?

More and more of us search and use the internet on our mobiles - its estimated that more searches are now been made on mobiles than desktops so Google are adjusting to the trend to ensure that users have an equally good experience browsing web sites on their mobiles as they do on desktops.

What does that mean for you?

As of now mobile-friendly web sites will rank higher in searches on mobile phones than sites that aren’t mobile-friendly.

How do I know if my site is mobile-friendly?

You can use this free tool from Google to find out if your web site is mobile friendly the result generated (by Google) will let you know if your site as it is currently is mobile friendly and details why the site has failed i.e. Text too small to read, Links too close together, Mobile viewport not set, it also gives advice about what you can do to make the site friendly for mobile visitors.

Congratulations! If your site is approved – you have nothing to worry about.

If your site failed Google’s test you have some work to do to the design so your web site meets the criteria and ensures that you don’t slip down in the rankings.

This change will currently only apply to searches on mobile phones but it’s worth giving serious consideration to developing your site so it’s more mobile-friendly as the number of people using their mobiles for internet searches is increasing and shows no sign of slowing down.
